I’ll Stay

I’ll hold your hand
when your family’s not here,
to comfort your death during
this quarantine my dear.

I know you don’t understand
what this lock-down has done,
and it pains me to know
you aren’t the only one.

But one visitor a day
is all that’s allowed,
and sadly you’ll get none
for the fear that surrounds.

So lay down your head
and close those tired eyes,
I’ll stay here with you
until your final goodbye.

  1. Gosh… this was so touching!

And as Don’t Lose Hope said— moving.

I am full of so much respect for you being the one to be there at the end for people. I can’t imagine what that must be like to experience, and repeatedly.

Lots of love! Like was expressed in this poem 💙💙💙

  2. This happened to my ex-husband recently (April 7) thankfully the hospital allowed one of his sons to be with him when he died. It is a very sad thing to die alone with no one holding your hand.
    Thank you for you ❤️

  4. These are such difficult times, especially for our older population. My husband is a nurse and works mainly in assisted living homes. It has been difficult for him to see his patients so isolated. This is a beautiful poem!! 🙂

  5. That is so touching 😭! It’s disheartening to read the death numbers everyday and imagining the situation that one dies alone without their loved ones around 😔 it feels so hard! You expressed it so well Hal! 🤗✍️ This is a best one from you ✨ Have a beautiful day ✨
